What SPM Prinsip Perakaunan covers

Form 4 builds the recording cycle for a sole proprietor, from business documents to financial statements. Form 5 applies it to partnerships, companies and clubs, and adds analysis, incomplete records and cost accounting. Each chapter shows its English meaning, then the Malay title in the textbook.

  2. Classification of Accounts and the Accounting Equation (Klasifikasi Akaun dan Persamaan Perakaunan)
  3. Business Documents as Sources of Information (Dokumen Perniagaan sebagai Sumber Maklumat)
  4. Books of Original Entry (Buku Catatan Pertama)
  5. Ledger (Lejar)
  6. Trial Balance (Imbangan Duga)
  7. Financial Statements of a Sole Proprietorship without Adjustments (Penyata Kewangan Milikan Tunggal tanpa Pelarasan)
  8. Adjustments and Financial Statements of a Sole Proprietorship (Pelarasan pada Tarikh Imbangan dan Penyediaan Penyata Kewangan Milikan Tunggal)
  9. Correction of Errors (Pembetulan Kesilapan)

  2. Incomplete Records (Rekod Tak Lengkap)
  3. Accounting for Internal Control (Perakaunan untuk Kawalan Dalaman)
  4. Accounting for Partnerships (Perakaunan untuk Perkongsian)

Where students lose marks in Prinsip Perakaunan

The double entry is the root of most mistakes. A student who is unsure which account is debited and which is credited gets the ledger wrong, the trial balance refuses to balance, and the financial statements built on it inherit every error. Tutors spend the early weeks of Form 4 on the direction of each entry until it no longer needs thinking about.

Adjustments at the balance date are the next hurdle: accrued and prepaid expenses, depreciation, and allowance for doubtful debts, each of which changes two figures at once. Students who learn them as separate rules mix them up, and students who understand what each one does to profit and to the statement of financial position rarely do.

Format carries marks of its own. The heading of a statement, the date line and the order of items all appear in the marking scheme, and a correct figure in the wrong place in the income statement earns less than it should. Practice papers are marked for layout as strictly as for arithmetic.

Explained in English, answered in Malay

Prinsip Perakaunan is taught and examined in Bahasa Melayu, and the paper uses its own vocabulary: debit and kredit, lejar, imbangan duga, penyata pendapatan, penyata kedudukan kewangan, aset bukan semasa, liabiliti semasa and ekuiti pemilik. A student from an English-speaking home can learn the ideas in English, and many find that easier, but the answers have to be practised in the terms the paper uses.

Tutors do both. The concept is explained in whichever language lands, and every exercise is then written in the Malay format, so by the trial examinations the student is not translating in their head while the clock runs.

Who teaches Prinsip Perakaunan

Prinsip Perakaunan tutors are university students and graduates who scored top grades in the subject, screened before they teach. An academic advisor matches each student on how far the school has got through the syllabus, on which language suits the explanations, and on the timetable.

A question, worked through

An SPM-style question on the income statement (penyata pendapatan) of a sole proprietor, from Form 4. The arithmetic is simple, and the marks go to putting each figure in its place.

For Kedai Aina, for the year ended 31 December: sales RM50 000; returns inwards RM1 000; opening inventory RM6 000; purchases RM30 000; carriage inwards RM500; closing inventory RM4 000; total expenses RM8 000. Calculate the cost of goods sold, the gross profit and the net profit.

  1. Net sales = sales − returns inwards (pulangan masuk) = RM50 000 − RM1 000 = RM49 000.
  2. Cost of goods sold (kos jualan) = opening inventory + purchases + carriage inwards − closing inventory = RM6 000 + RM30 000 + RM500 − RM4 000 = RM32 500. Carriage inwards (angkutan masuk) belongs here, as part of the cost of the goods, and not among the expenses below.
  3. Gross profit (untung kasar) = net sales − cost of goods sold = RM49 000 − RM32 500 = RM16 500.
  4. Net profit (untung bersih) = gross profit − expenses = RM16 500 − RM8 000 = RM8 500.

Answer: Cost of goods sold RM32 500, gross profit RM16 500 and net profit RM8 500.

Frequently asked questions

Is Prinsip Perakaunan taught in English?

The subject is taught and examined in Bahasa Melayu in national schools. Our tutors can explain the concepts in English for a student who finds that easier, while every exercise is written in the Malay terms and format the SPM paper uses.

When should Prinsip Perakaunan tuition start?

In the first months of Form 4, while the double entry is being taught. Everything later in the syllabus, from the trial balance to company accounts, depends on it, and a shaky start is much harder to fix once Form 5 adds partnerships and companies.

How much does SPM Prinsip Perakaunan tuition cost?

The fee depends on the format (1-to-1 or a small group), how often classes run and the tutor, so there is no single figure. Message us on WhatsApp with your child's form and latest result, and you will get the current packages and a quote, usually within one working day.

My child keeps mixing up debit and credit. Can a tutor fix that?

In most cases, yes. The confusion comes from memorising rules for each account instead of understanding what a debit and a credit do to the accounting equation. Once that idea is secure, the entries follow from it, and the tutor practises them until they are automatic.

Do you cover the Form 5 company and partnership accounts?

Yes, along with clubs and societies, incomplete records and cost accounting. These chapters reuse the Form 4 recording cycle in new settings, so a student who is secure on Form 4 usually finds them manageable.
