SPM 2026 opens with the Bahasa Melayu speaking test on Monday, 26 October 2026 and closes at 5:00 pm on Thursday, 17 December 2026, when Additional Mathematics Paper 2 ends. In between come the English speaking test, three days of science practicals and sixteen days of written papers, starting on Monday, 23 November.
Every date and time below comes from Lembaga Peperiksaan's official timetable, the Jadual Waktu Peperiksaan SPM 2026. [?] Lembaga Peperiksaan, Kementerian Pendidikan Malaysia, Jadual Waktu Peperiksaan Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia 2026 (LP/SPM/2026). It holds the speaking test, science practical and written paper timetables, the extra time for candidates with special educational needs, and the guidelines and instructions for candidates. Schools hand it to their candidates, private candidates get it through their state education department (JPN), and Lembaga Peperiksaan publishes it on its portal at lp.moe.gov.my. What the timetable means for a science-stream student
Take a typical pure-science candidate who sits Bahasa Melayu, English, Pendidikan Islam or Pendidikan Moral, Sejarah, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Additional Mathematics. Their written papers fall like this.
| Date | Papers |
|---|---|
| Mon 23 Nov | Bahasa Melayu Papers 4, 1 and 2 |
| Tue 24 Nov | English Papers 4, 1 and 2 |
| Wed 25 Nov | Pendidikan Islam Paper 1, or Pendidikan Moral |
| Thu 26 Nov | Mathematics Papers 1 and 2 |
| Mon 30 Nov | Sejarah Papers 1 and 2 |
| Wed 2 Dec | Biology Papers 1 and 2 |
| Thu 3 Dec | Physics Papers 1 and 2 |
| Tue 15 Dec | Chemistry Papers 1 and 2 |
| Thu 17 Dec | Additional Mathematics Papers 1 and 2 |
Biology and Physics come on consecutive days, 2 and 3 December. The evening of 2 December is too short to revise Physics from scratch, so plan to have Physics revised by the weekend of 28 and 29 November.
After Physics on 3 December, a pure-science candidate has eleven days without a single paper before Chemistry on 15 December. That is the last long revision block of the exam, and it is where Chemistry and Additional Mathematics get their final push.
Additional Mathematics is the last paper of all, on 17 December. Paper 1 runs from 8:15 to 10:15 am and Paper 2 from 2:30 to 5:00 pm, which leaves more than four hours between them. Plan that break too.
Commerce students face heavier single days. Perniagaan Papers 1 and 2 are on Wednesday, 2 December, and private candidates also sit Paper 4 that afternoon. Prinsip Perakaunan follows the same pattern on Monday, 14 December, with Paper 4 from 2:30 to 5:00 pm for private candidates. Ekonomi is on Monday, 7 December.
Candidates taking a literature paper and Geografi have a long Wednesday on 16 December: literature from 8:15 to 10:45 am, Geografi Paper 1 from 11:45 am to 1:00 pm and Geografi Paper 2 from 2:30 to 5:00 pm.
Details that are easy to miss
- Visual Arts candidates (2611/2, drawing test) collect their question paper from the Chief Invigilator on Tuesday, 24 November, a week before the paper on 1 December. Bring it on the day with no sketches, scribbles or notes on it.
- Every other SPM 2026 paper is handled as a closed paper, and candidates may not take a closed paper out of the hall. Do not plan on bringing question papers home.
- Calculators are allowed for the papers where they apply.
- No paper falls on a Friday, and Friday, 11 December is marked in the timetable as a holiday for the Sultan of Selangor's birthday.
- Missing any component of a subject, the speaking test or the practical included, counts as absent for the whole subject unless you hand in supporting documents.
