Form 1 to 3 Tuition Online for Lower Secondary Students
KSSM classes for Form 1, 2 and 3, from the step up out of primary school to the stream choice before Form 4.
Afterkelas teaches lower secondary students online, Form 1 to Form 3, on the KSSM syllabus. Screened university tutors run live classes, 1-to-1 or in small groups, in Mathematics, Science, English, Bahasa Melayu, Sejarah and Geografi, in English or Bahasa Melayu.
Subjects for Form 1 to 3
Each subject below has its own page, with the KSSM chapters for every form and a worked question. Classes follow the chapter the school is teaching that week, in the language the school teaches the subject in, and the tutor works from the student's own textbook and exercise book.
KSSM Mathematics for Form 1, 2 and 3, with the algebra that SPM Mathematics and Additional Mathematics are built on.
KSSM Science for Form 1, 2 and 3, from cells and matter to electricity and space, with the investigation skills that decide the science stream.
KSSM English for Form 1, 2 and 3: longer reading, grammar used correctly in writing, and essays that answer the task.
KSSM Bahasa Melayu for Form 1, 2 and 3: tatabahasa, karangan, ringkasan and KOMSAS, for students from SK and SJK schools alike.
KSSM Sejarah for Form 1, 2 and 3, from early civilisations to the Malay kingdoms and Western rule, with the structured and essay answers SPM builds on.
KSSM Geografi for Form 1, 2 and 3: map, graph and topographic skills, and the physical and human geography of Malaysia, Asia and the world.
The step up from Year 6 to Form 1
Form 1 is a bigger change than most parents expect. Lessons move faster, every subject has its own teacher with their own expectations, and Mathematics turns abstract within weeks: negative numbers, algebraic expressions, linear equations. A student who did well in primary arithmetic can find that the habit that served them, learning one method per question type, stops working once letters replace numbers.
Tutors use the first months of Form 1 to secure the ideas the rest of secondary school stands on: operations with negative numbers and fractions, forming an equation from a sentence and solving it, and reading a Science question for what it actually asks. A gap closed in Form 1 costs a few weeks. The same gap found in Form 4 can cost a year.
UASA, after PT3
PT3, the national assessment at the end of Form 3, was abolished in 2022. Since 2023, Form 1 to Form 3 students sit UASA (Ujian Akhir Sesi Akademik) at the end of each school year. The school sets and marks the papers to a format the ministry publishes, and the result is read alongside classroom assessment through the year.
From 2027, Form 3 students also sit the Matriks Pembelajaran, a diagnostic test set centrally by Lembaga Peperiksaan in Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics, Science and Sejarah. The ministry has said the results are for early intervention and will not be used to rank schools. Neither test calls for drilling of its own; both reward steady understanding of the year's chapters, which is what weekly classes are for.
Choosing a stream for Form 4
At the end of Form 3, students choose their subjects for SPM. The science package adds Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Additional Mathematics; other packages build on subjects such as Prinsip Perakaunan, Ekonomi and Perniagaan. Many schools look at Form 3 results in Mathematics and Science when they decide who joins the science classes, which makes those two subjects the ones to watch in Form 3.
A student who wants the science stream but finds Form 3 Mathematics hard has one school year to fix it. That is enough when the work starts early in the year, and it is the most common reason families start tuition in Form 3.

KP2027 and the Form 1 class of 2027
Students who start Form 1 in January 2027 are the first to follow KP2027, the new national curriculum. It reports progress on four mastery levels in place of six, and adds a new Form 1 subject, Teknologi dan Digital, which brings together RBT and ASK. Forms 2 and 3 stay on KSSM until their cohort finishes.
The chapter lists on the subject pages here are the KSSM ones, which every Form 2 and Form 3 student is still on. For a Form 1 student in 2027, the tutor follows the new textbooks and modules the school uses.
A question, worked through
A Form 3 question on indices of the kind set in school tests and UASA papers. The usual mistake is cubing the 3 but not the powers, so the working treats each factor on its own.
Question
Simplify (3x²y)³ ÷ 9x⁴y.
- Raise every factor inside the bracket to the power 3: 3³ = 27, (x²)³ = x⁶ and y¹ becomes y³. So (3x²y)³ = 27x⁶y³.
- Divide the numbers: 27 ÷ 9 = 3.
- Divide powers of the same base by subtracting the indices: x⁶ ÷ x⁴ = x², and y³ ÷ y¹ = y².
- Check with x = 1 and y = 2: (3 × 1 × 2)³ ÷ (9 × 1 × 2) = 216 ÷ 18 = 12, and 3 × 1 × 2² = 12. The two agree.
Answer 3x²y²
Frequently asked questions
Is PT3 still running?
No. PT3 was abolished in 2022. Form 1 to Form 3 students now sit UASA at the end of each year, set by their own school, and from 2027 Form 3 students also sit the Matriks Pembelajaran, a diagnostic test that the ministry says will not be used to rank schools.
When should my child start tuition in lower secondary?
Form 1 is the cheapest time to close a gap, especially in Mathematics, because the algebra introduced in Form 1 runs all the way to SPM. Form 3 is the other common start, for students who want the science stream in Form 4 and need their Mathematics and Science results to show it.
Can my child take one subject only?
Yes. Many families start with Mathematics or Science and add another subject later if the school report asks for it. There is no package to buy, and each subject can be 1-to-1 or in a small group.
Are classes in English or Bahasa Melayu?
Each subject follows the school's language. DLP students learn Mathematics and Science in English and other students learn them in Bahasa Melayu, while Sejarah, Geografi and Bahasa Melayu are taught in Bahasa Melayu. Tutors can explain in English for students who need it.
How much does Form 1 to 3 tuition cost?
The fee depends on the format (1-to-1 or a small group), how many classes a week and the tutor, so there is no single figure. Send an academic advisor your child's form, the subjects and the latest school report on WhatsApp, and you will get the current packages and a quote, usually within one working day.
