What SPM Ekonomi covers
Form 4 builds the tools: scarcity and choice, demand and supply, money and production. Form 5 applies them to the government's role and to Malaysia's place in the world economy. Each chapter shows its English meaning, then the Malay title in the textbook.

Diagrams and calculations carry the marks
Ekonomi looks like an essay subject, but a large share of the marks sits in diagrams and short calculations: shifting a demand or supply curve and finding the new equilibrium, working out price elasticity, total revenue, costs and profit. A diagram with unlabelled axes, or a curve shifted the wrong way, loses marks however good the paragraph beside it.
Tutors drill the standard diagrams until a student can draw each one from memory with every label in place, then practise reading a question for which curve moves, in which direction, and why. The calculations follow the same pattern every time, so they become reliable marks once the steps are fixed.
Writing economics in Bahasa Melayu
Ekonomi is taught and examined in Bahasa Melayu, with its own terms: permintaan, penawaran, keseimbangan pasaran, keanjalan harga, kos lepas, jumlah hasil. A student from an English-speaking home can learn the idea in English first, and many do, but every answer is practised in the terms the marking scheme expects.
The longer answers in Paper 2 reward organised points. Tutors teach a routine for each point, a statement, an explanation and an example where one fits, and practise it under time so the student does not run out of minutes on the first answer.
Who teaches Ekonomi
Ekonomi tutors are university students and graduates who scored top grades in the subject, screened before they teach. An academic advisor matches each student on how far the school has got, on which language suits the explanations, and on the timetable.

An SPM-style question on price elasticity of demand from the Form 4 chapter Pasaran. The calculation is short; the marks for part (c) go to linking the result to revenue.
Question
When the price of a good rises from RM10 to RM12, the quantity demanded falls from 100 units to 70 units. (a) Calculate the price elasticity of demand. (b) State the type of elasticity. (c) What happens to the seller's total revenue?
- Percentage change in quantity demanded: (70 − 100) ÷ 100 × 100% = −30%.
- Percentage change in price: (12 − 10) ÷ 10 × 100% = 20%.
- Price elasticity of demand = 30% ÷ 20% = 1.5, taking the absolute value. It is greater than 1, so demand is elastic (permintaan anjal).
- Total revenue before the rise = RM10 × 100 = RM1000; after = RM12 × 70 = RM840. Revenue falls, which is what elastic demand predicts when the price goes up.

Is SPM Ekonomi taught in English?
In national schools Ekonomi is taught and examined in Bahasa Melayu. Tutors can explain the ideas in English for a student who finds that easier, while every answer is practised in the Malay terms the paper uses.
My child understands the ideas but still loses marks. Why?
Usually in three places: diagrams drawn without full labels, calculations written without working, and long answers where the points run together. Each of these is fixed with practice on past-style questions, marked the way the scheme marks them.
When should Ekonomi tuition start?
Early in Form 4, when demand, supply and elasticity are taught, because every later chapter uses them. A student who starts in Form 5 begins with those tools before moving to the government and global economy chapters.
