Cambridge A-Level Tuition Online in Malaysia (AS and A Level)
Cambridge International AS & A Level classes planned against the papers on the entry, from the AS year to the full A Level.
Afterkelas teaches Cambridge International AS & A Level online to pre-university students in Malaysia. Tutors matched to the papers the student is entered for, from Mathematics 9709 to Chemistry 9701, teach live in English, 1-to-1 or in small groups.
Cambridge A-Level subjects we teach
Each linked subject has its own page with the papers set out, the topics they test and a worked question. Cambridge identifies every syllabus by a four-digit code starting with 9, and the code on the entry decides which papers the tutor plans against.
Cambridge 9709 Pure Mathematics, Mechanics and Statistics, planned against the papers the student is entered for.
Cambridge A-Level Further Maths
Cambridge 9231 Further Pure, Further Mechanics and Further Probability & Statistics, for students who find Mathematics comfortable and want more.
Cambridge 9702 Physics across all 25 topics, with the practical and planning papers that many students leave too late.
Cambridge 9701 Chemistry: calculations, mechanisms and the practical papers, across physical, inorganic and organic chemistry.
Cambridge 9700 Biology across all 19 topics, taught for precise explanations, data analysis and the practical papers.
Cambridge 9708 Economics: diagrams, data response and essays that analyse and evaluate, from the price system to international issues.
Cambridge 9706 Accounting: financial statements for every type of business, costing, budgeting and the decisions they inform.
Cambridge 9609 Business: concepts applied to real cases, a decision-making case study, and strategy essays that evaluate.
Cambridge A-Level Computer Science
Cambridge 9618 Computer Science: theory, pseudocode and data structures, and the practical programming paper at A Level.
Staged or linear: when the papers are sat
Cambridge lets a student sit the AS papers at the end of the first year and the remaining A Level papers a year later, which is the staged route, or sit every paper in one series at the end, which is the linear route. Some colleges also enter students for the AS alone.
The staged route spreads the load and gives a real result to show universities halfway through. The linear route keeps every paper fresh at the end but puts the whole grade on one series. Tutors plan around whichever the college uses, and a student on the staged route treats the first-year papers as the start of the final grade, because they are.
Papers 1 to 5 in the sciences
Physics 9702, Chemistry 9701 and Biology 9700 share one shape. Paper 1 is multiple choice and Paper 2 is structured questions, both on the AS content. Paper 3 is the advanced practical skills exam in the laboratory. Paper 4 covers the full A Level content in structured questions, and Paper 5 tests planning, analysis and evaluation in writing.
Paper 5 surprises students the most, because it asks them to design an experiment they have never done and to judge data they did not collect. It is learnable, and students who practise it from the first year find it one of the steadier sources of marks.
How Cambridge A-Level classes are planned
The advisor asks for the syllabus code, the papers on the entry, the route and the series, then proposes a tutor who knows those papers. Classes follow the college's order, and each topic is tested with past questions from the same code and marked against Cambridge's mark schemes.
University offers usually arrive on predicted grades, so the first-year results and the college's predictions matter as much as the final series. Tuition that starts in the first year can lift both, which is harder to do from a standing start in the second.
A question, worked through
A question in the style of Cambridge Physics 9702 Paper 2 on projectile motion. The horizontal and vertical motions are handled separately, and time links them.
Question
A ball is thrown horizontally at 12 m s⁻¹ from the edge of a cliff 20 m above the sea. Air resistance is negligible. Calculate the time the ball takes to reach the sea and the horizontal distance it travels. (g = 9.81 m s⁻²)
- Vertically the ball starts from rest, so use s = ½gt²: 20 = ½ × 9.81 × t².
- Solve for t: t² = 40 ÷ 9.81 = 4.077, so t = 2.02 s.
- Horizontally there is no acceleration, so distance = speed × time = 12 × 2.02 = 24.2 m.
- Give both answers to three significant figures, matching the data.
Answer The ball takes 2.02 s to reach the sea and travels 24.2 m horizontally.
Frequently asked questions
Which Cambridge A-Level subjects do you teach?
Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics, Accounting, Business and Computer Science, each against the syllabus code and papers on the student's entry.
Should my child take the staged or the linear route?
The college usually decides. The staged route suits students who want a result to show universities after the first year and prefer to spread the papers out; the linear route suits those who learn the subject best as a whole. Tuition follows whichever route is on the entry.
Do you prepare students for the practical papers?
Yes, both Paper 3, the laboratory exam, and Paper 5, the written planning and analysis paper. Paper 5 in particular improves quickly with practice, so tutors bring it into classes from the first year.
Can you help with university predicted grades?
Indirectly, and that is where tuition helps most. Predictions are based on the student's work and results through the course, so steady progress in the first year and strong mock examinations give the college the evidence it needs to predict higher.
How much does Cambridge A-Level tuition cost?
The fee depends on the format (1-to-1 or a small group), how many classes a week and the tutor, so there is no single figure. Send an academic advisor the subjects, the syllabus codes and the exam series on WhatsApp, and you will get the current packages and a quote, usually within one working day.
